I don’t care; it’s still YOUR fault! ten heavy trooper miniatures Khurasan Dictator wins runner up for TGN best vehicle 2011

I don’t care; it’s still YOUR fault!

Mark Mondragon at DreamForge-Games - 5 weeks ago
Here are the finals for the heavy weapons squad, created with feedback by…. Wait for it… YOU. Changes from the originals: Widened stance on one of the leg sets. Ankle armor to better ground the mini. The power weapons are now held with both arms and across the body. Light AT gunner and quad gunner now lean into the recoil for a more dramatic pose. With the exception of the power weapons and the ankle armor, not many changes here, just some tweaks and fine tuning. So the question is, when do I start the Kickstarter? ….. Not quite yet, but soon. I have a surprise for you that I’m wor... more »

It’s all YOUR fault!

Mark Mondragon at DreamForge-Games - 5 weeks ago
Here we have the assault squad finals, created with feedback by all of you. Changes from the originals: Widened stance on one of the leg sets. Ankle armor to better ground the mini Complete rework of the grenade launcher. Addition of a squad leader’s sword. Addition of an optional shield. Taking feedback and making changes to these, took me in directions I would never have gone by myself. The vote for the grenade launcher was pretty much unanimous, as a lover of auto-feed weapons; the cylinder design was not an avenue I would have ever explored. The sword design was so close that I ne... more »

I love you guys!

Mark Mondragon at DreamForge-Games - 5 weeks ago
After receiving some great feedback here and on Dakka-Dakka, the general consensus, (two or more mentions of the same issue) so far seems to be. *Make for easy weapon swaps:* Will do…. I will make a few blank arms without weapons. *Make all three helmets available as options for each figure:* Yep, all three will be included with each mini, for both heavy weapon and assault minis. *Energy heavy weapons need to be supported by free arm:* I will rework this, I agree the left arm needs something to do *Some issues with the size or design of the shoulder pads:* I probably won’t ... more »

Feedback from the Kickstarter project and a review of the minis.

Mark Mondragon at DreamForge-Games - 5 weeks ago
Overall the feedback has been great. Comments like, "The best casts I have ever seen" and "The quality and design is excellent. It’s not often I get metal figures of this quality, nor ones that look relatively effortless to prepare for painting." Don’t get me wrong, there have been issues... the wrong left arms were sprued on tabs with the right arms.... I have replacement lefts in transit to me right now and will have those out to the Kickstarters ASAP. Overall I am very happy with them and it seems that despite the error with the arms, so are my customers. One of my customers, a ... more »

Preview of all ten heavy trooper miniatures

Mark Mondragon at DreamForge-Games - 1 month ago
Some of these you have seen, others are new. This is a preview of the complete line of Eisenkern heavy troopers, with some poorly written fluff :) *I would like to encourage you to leave comments about these miniatures; this may be the last chance for changes or revisions. Anything you love, hate, or feel you would like to see.... please speak up.* I will be starting another Kickstarter project to attempt to gain funding for these miniatures. I hope to see you there and will post here and on many of the gaming news sites when this becomes available. Here is the full squad of heavy w... more »

The Kriegsmarine have landed!

Mark Mondragon at DreamForge-Games - 1 month ago
The Kriegsmarine were created when the Imperial navy took to space. A merging of the Navy, Air force and Fallschirmjager, these are elite troops and medium troop choices for the Eisenkern faction. Typically assigned to planetary assault, they drop from low orbit with the use of their drop packs, a device that allows the trooper to fall at terminal velocity towards its target and stop just before impacting the planet’s surface. This is achieved by creating a micro tear into void space, encapsulating the trooper in what is essentially a bubble of reality that overrides the laws of phy... more »

Assembled Sturmtruppen squads and support weapons

Mark Mondragon at DreamForge-Games - 1 month ago
First shots of an assembled squad, command squad and support. Keep in mind these are multi-part metal minis. There are five standing/running leg poses and two kneeling leg poses. A total of seven weapons choices and the ability to choose what weapons to assemble with any leg set, as well as the ability to customize the pose by twisting the torso and heads. Here we have a five man squad. This is a command squad. A forward observer with artillery/orbital strike designator. A light Anti-Tank gun and crew. Not every venture goes as smoothly as one would like. Apparently when the a... more »

Khurasan Dictator wins runner up for TGN best vehicle 2011

Mark Mondragon at DreamForge-Games - 1 month ago
A big congrats to Jon! This is the first time, to my knowledge, that a 15mm scale vehicle has pushed the envelope into what is a mainly 28mm scale world. See the results here. You can see more about the Dictator here. If you love 15mm You should stop by JBR's blog for some very crunchy 15mm goodness :)

First look at the new minis!

Mark Mondragon at DreamForge-Games - 2 months ago
Here is your first look at a Sturmtruppen fresh from the caster. Please excuse the terrible homemade wash and the poor quality photos :) I will post pics of all the raw sprues and the complete selection when time allows. My main priority at this point is getting these in the hands of all the Kickstarter folks that made this possible… THANK YOU to all who participated! Without your support these would not be a reality. Here are a couple of well-lit shots viewed through my desk magnifier. Here is a scale comparison with a few popular lines. And some shots at table level to give you a... more »

Shaun paints up a stunning Leviathan Crusader

Mark Mondragon at DreamForge-Games - 2 months ago
Shaun over at Tanks and trolls posted up a wonderfully painted Crusader on our forum. Please feel free to drop by and see the other great work can conversions. Shaun has far more painting skill than myself and does one hell of a job turning a Crusader into a GK titan. Here is what he had to say: “Made a little time between commission work to knock out this Crusader, another ticked off the list! Went together like a dream and fun to paint, will be putting some pennies by to bag Dreamforge’s Mortis model in the future. Decided to go with a GK theme to compliment my ever growing f... more »

Eisenkern Heavy Trooper (Preview) 28-32mm miniatures

Mark Mondragon at DreamForge-Games - 2 months ago
I am pleased to introduce the Eisenkern Heavy Trooper. Shown here are the three variants. On the left, an anti-personnel or AA mount, nothing says suppressive fire like a quad S.A.W. Center, is an assault specialist armed with a power sword and wearing the fluted commander’s helm and chest armor. To the right, a belt fed auto-cannon to deal with that armor problem. Sneak peak of an Eisenkern Heavy Trooper

Mark Mondragon at DreamForge-Games - 2 months ago
Still a W.I.P. Here is one of three troopers for the "heavy" trooper class. The soldier is clad in full power armor and wielding a quad mount machine gun. On his back is an auto-loader system to reload his main weapon as well as a massive power supply for his armor. There will be three heavy troopers…. More to follow…. TGN has nominated the Leviathan Mortis and Crusader for best vehicle 2011. If you feel either of these should win, please head over and vote *HERE*

Only five days left on the Kickstarter project!

Mark Mondragon at DreamForge-Games - 4 months ago
A huge THANK YOU! to all the project supporters. You can see the project HERE I sent the files off to have the masters made last week, so we could try to get a head start. We only have five days left on the project, if you would like to participate, your support is greatly appreciated. Although the project is funded, roughly $2000.00 will still be coming from my personal funds. I would need to reach roughly $7700 in total project pledges to be completely in the black. Thank you for looking and for your support! Mark Mondragon

Some changes to the production miniatures.

Mark Mondragon at DreamForge-Games - 5 months ago
Looking around the web, the most common suggestions, complaints, what have you, is that the figure appears top heavy. Rightfully so, this is caused by the legs not being true to scale and the shoulders being too wide. The arms and shoulders need to clear the chest projections so that you can pose the figure, I can however make some changes to the arms and changes to the legs so that the figure has a much more “correct” form. After polling my project supporters, there was a strong consensus that we use the more “correctly” scaled miniature for the final production models. *I would l... more »

Mark Mondragon at DreamForge-Games - 5 months ago
Well folks, I need your help. If you enjoy my models and would like to see this product line launch, please head on over to Kickstarter and add your support to the project. If you're not familiar with the Kickstarter model, the way it works is you receive a reward for an accompanying pledge in support of my project. The more you pledge the better the rewards and the greater contribution you will make to this and future projects. Your positive participation will help a small independent company to grow and thrive and you gain the satisfaction of knowing you made this happen. And wha... more »

A question of scale “True-32”

Mark Mondragon at DreamForge-Games - 6 months ago
Indulge me in a slight rant. The subject of scale is one that many sculptors wrestle with, I am no acceptation. The use of digital technology to sculpt a miniature provides a certain amount of freedom, the miniature looks the same to me at 15mm or 50mm scale, I can make last minute adjustments on the fly and scale the miniature to my heart’s content. Ultimately, gamers want miniatures that look right with their other minis from manufacturer A, B or C. This is not as easy as it sounds. Place a true scale 28mm mini next to many manufacturers product and it will look small and emaciate... more »
